A superb quality and highly impressive early 19th century William IV period mahogany cheval dressing mirror, attributed to Gillows. Crafted from richly figured, solid Cuban mahogany and retaining its original mirror plate. The cross grain moulded frame is supported between exceptionally elegant turned and spiral-reeded uprights. The mirror is flanked by a pair of original ormolu swinging candle arms, and stands on four sweeping sabre splayed legs, united by double turned stretchers and terminating in the original finely cast and carved brass castors. The reverse retains its original mahogany panelled back, a feature typical of Gillows workshop.
